He currently serves as Tautiaki Piki and Deputy Warden at Toroa College, a residential college owned and operated by the University of Otago through the Director of Campus Accommodation and Collegiate Life Services. In this capacity, he manages the administration of the college and oversees the welfare of residents, reporting to the Senior Warden. Residing on site, Stewart demonstrates a strong passion for Toroa College and engages in all facets of its daily operations. He plays a key role in cultivating a supportive community culture, handling resident welfare matters, and organizing the community engagement calendar. He remains accessible to residents seeking assistance with personal or academic challenges.
In 2024, Stewart Noguer Blue acted as Warden/Tautiaki of Toroa College, leading the intake of 125 first-year students to the University of Otago and Dunedin. He coordinated an extensive Orientation Week programme that included academic orientation, 'friends in sixty seconds', a Greek feast, laser force, paintball, toga night, dumpling making, movie and ice cream evenings. To support academic transition, he offered tutorials for eight papers with strong attendance and performed two academic interviews per student to facilitate adjustments to tertiary study or course modifications. His leadership encouraged resident involvement in inter-college competitions such as quiz night, football, netball, volleyball, debating, musical events, pool competition, rugby sevens, touch rugby, the 48-hour film festival, and arts events, instilling values of fair play, sportsmanship, and team spirit. He onboarded new team members including Assistant Wardens Grace Johnstone and Tala Fagasoaia, administrator Angela, and facilities coordinator Paul, who managed pastoral care, duties, and events. Catering was handled by executive chef Charlie Mancey. Under his guidance, Taisei O’Sullivan-Naito was named Resident of the Year for exemplary community contributions. Earlier, he held the position of Tautiaki Piki/Deputy Warden at Hayward College/192 for most of the year, contributing nearly 10 years of experience and a student-focused leadership style to University Flats. Moving forward, he will lead Toroa College in 2025 while continuing to live on site.
